Pursuant to Bill S.2475 Extending Certain COVID-19 Measures Adopted During the State of Emergency, this meeting of the Greenfield Conservation Commission will be conducted via remote participation to the greatest extent possible. Specific information and the general guidelines for remote participation by members of the public and/or parties with a right and/or requirement to attend this meeting can be found below. Every effort will be made to ensure that the public can adequately access the proceedings in real time, via technological means. Schedule of Public Meetings & Hearings

  • Public Hearing: Notice of Intent: Annual maintenance at the Greenfield Swimming Pool at 31 Nash's Mill Road; (Map: R27, Lot: 18)

The following proposed maintenance work is a yearly occurrence dating back to the 1930’s when the Municipal Swimming Pool was created. The Order of Conditions lapsed before being renewed and thus a new NOI is being filed. The project proposes the annual stockpiling of beach sand on the south side of the Green River away from the river’s edge at the end of the swimming season and the respreading of the sand on the beach along the south bank at the beginning of the season. Other proposed annual work includes setting the gates in place on the dam during the spring, the removal of trees, stumps, and brush deposited against the dam during the spring, the removal of mud/silt deposits from the beach area as required, grass mowing, rubbish clean-up and removal, installation and removal of handicap accessible boardwalk and ramp at the beginning and end of the swimming season respectively, and the occasional tree-planting. The project also proposes additional maintenance work as needed, including the trimming and removal of trees and brush that may pose a safety hazard, maintaining and patching existing stone walls, removing mud/silt from under picnic tables and the playground area, patching existing bituminous concrete areas, pumping of the septic system, repair and maintenance of the footbridge, the maintenance of the river crossing on the north side of the footbridge, the removal of stone dust contaminated with mud/silt deposits in the parking areas, and the flushing and refilling of the pool area when bacteria levels in the river are high.
