Business Certificates aka DBAs


NEW BUSINESS CERTIFICATES

New business certificates may be started in the City Clerk's office but please note: your signature on the business certificate must be notarized before your certificate is finalized. That can be done at City Hall or at a Notary Public's Office.  The cost for the business certificate is $25; check or money order should be payable to the City of Greenfield. You can find a business certificate application form here. 

You can either mail your signed and notarized business certificate form to the City Clerk's Office, 14 Court Sq., Greenfield, MA 01301; drop it at the Clerk's office during business hours; or put it in the drop box located by the side entrance of City Hall. Your request must be in an envelope labeled City Clerk's Office, must include payment of $25 by either check or money order made payable to the City of Greenfield, and must include your notarized signature.

We will forward your request to the Building Inspections for review and approval as required by zoning ordinance; their office might contact you. Once they have approved and signed your application, we will register your business certificate and mail you a copy to the business address on your form, unless otherwise requested at the time of application.

BUSINESS CERTIFICATE RENEWALS

Business certificate renewals may be processed in the office or dropped in the drop box located by the accessible entrance at the right side of City Hall. The cost is $25 (checks should be payable to the City of Greenfield) and you must include a copy of your valid photo id. Renewals use the same application form, found here.
