NOVEMBER 7, 2023 - GREENFIELD ELECTION

VOTE BY MAIL applications must be submitted annually. 

ABSENTEE VOTING applications must be submitted annually and available in the Clerk’s Office or see below for link, to those who qualify. 

You can vote by absentee ballot if:

  • You will be away from our city on Election Day.
  • You have a religious belief that prevents you from voting at your polling location on Election Day.
  • You have a disability that prevents you from voting at your polling location.

You can register to vote here. The deadline for voter registration for all elections is 10 days prior to the election date.

You can also contact the City Clerk’s Office at 413-772-1555, ext. 6162, and request a voter registration card for you to complete and return to us either by mail to the City Clerk’s Office, 14 Court Sq., Greenfield, MA 01301 or by using the secure drop box located by the side door of City Hall.

ABSENTEE VOTING

Applications for absentee ballots must be filed with the City Clerk no later than noon on the fourth business day before the election. If the fourth business day before an election falls on a holiday, applications must be filed no later than 5 p.m. on the last business day preceding the holiday.

There are specific requirements for absentee voting. You can vote by absentee ballot if:

  • You will be away from your city or town on Election Day.
  • You have a religious belief that prevents you from voting at your polling location on Election Day.
  • You have a disability that prevents you from voting at your polling location.
You should fill out an absentee ballot application if: 
  • You will be away from your city or town on Election Day.
  • You are requesting an emergency absentee ballot due to hospitalization.
  • You are currently incarcerated for a reason other than a felony conviction.
Please note that absentee ballot applications MUST be filed annually.

To receive an absentee ballot, you will need to submit a absentee application to the Greenfield City Clerk’s Office:

  • By mail
  • By email
  • By fax

Absentee applications can be downloaded or printed here. Further, any written request with your signature is an acceptable application. You can simply send a letter to the Greenfield Clerk's Office to apply for your ballot. Applications can be submitted by mail, email, or fax, but they must include a signature that can be compared to your hand-written signature. Electronic signatures, scanned applications, and photos of applications are acceptable.

Typed signatures on applications cannot be accepted, unless you are a voter who requires accommodations due to physical disability. If you are unable to sign your application or mark your ballot by hand due to a disability, contact the Secretary of States Office, Election Division, for information on requesting an accommodation.

PRECINCT POLLING LOCATIONS

All nine precincts vote at the Greenfield High School gymnasium at 2 Barr Ave. Voters enter through the entrance located in the rear of the building.
