You may order vital records online by using this link: https://unipaygold.unibank.com/customerinfo.aspx. Please note if you are paying with a check or debit card online there is a 6 business day waiting period before your order will be processed, if you are paying with a credit card your order will be processed within 24 business hours. The cost to order vital records online is $11. There is a service fee associated with the online payment and the fee depends on your method of payment. You may also request vital records by sending your request in writing along with payment and a self addressed stamped envelope to the City Clerk’s Office, 14 Court Sq., Greenfield, MA 01301. The cost for vital records if you are requesting by mail is $10 per certified copy. Checks/money orders should be payable to the City of Greenfield.
2021 Dog Licenses are now available for purchase. AS OF JULY 1, 2021 THERE WILL BE A $25 LATE FEE ASSESSED PER DOG.ALL RENEWALS AND NEW DOG LICENSES MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH PROOF OF RABIES AND SPAY/NEUTER. If you are ordering a 2021 dog license you may do so by ordering online by using this link: https://unipaygold.unibank.com/customerinfo.aspx. Please be aware you must provide our office with a copy of your dog’s current rabies & spay/neuter record, you may email the record to (email@example.com) or fax to (413-772-1542). The cost to order your dog license online will be $16 for unaltered dogs and $11 for altered dogs. There is a service fee associated with the online payment and the fee depends on your method of payment. You may also request your dog license by sending your request in writing along with payment and a self addressed stamped envelope to the City Clerk’s Office, 14 Court Sq., Greenfield, MA 01301. The cost for requesting a dog license by mail is $10 for altered dogs or $15 for unaltered dogs. Checks/money orders should be payable to the City of Greenfield. Business Certificates:
Business certificate renewals may be dropped in the drop box located at the top of the handicap accessible ramp located on the right hand side of City Hall. The cost is $25 (checks should be payable to the City of Greenfield) and you MUST include a copy of your valid photo id.
New Business CertificatesIMPORTANT, your signature on the business certificate MUST be notarized, the cost for the business certificate is $25 (checks/money orders should be payable to the City of Greenfield and signed). You will need to either mail your SIGNED & NOTARIZED business certificate form to the City Clerk's Office (14 Court Sq., Greenfield, MA 01301) or you may drop it off in the drop box located at City Hall. Your request must be in an envelope lableled City Clerk's Office, it must include payment of $25 (checks/money orders should be payable to the City of Greenfield), your signature MUST be notarized and we will forward your request onto the building inspector and once his signature has been obtained we will register your business certificate and mail you a copy to the business address.
2020 Local Census/Street Listing
Every resident and registered voter was sent the 2020 Local Census/Street Listings in January and 2nd Mailings went out to those that did not respond to the 1st mailing. If you have lost your Local Census form you may print the form here and complete all the necessary information. Please be sure you list all people in your household by giving last name, first name, Middle, date of birth, occupation (if you choose), telephone number (if you choose) and sign and date the form and return to us either by mail to City Clerk’s Office, 14 Court Square, Greenfield, MA 01301 or via email firstname.lastname@example.org, or fax 413-772-1542 or you may also drop your census form off in an envelope in the mail slot in the front door of City Hall. Duties of the City Clerk are prescribed by Massachusetts General Laws, City Ordinances, Home Rule Charter, and the Code of Massachusetts regulations. These duties include:
Keeper and maintainer of all records of births, deaths and marriages
Chief election officer responsible for conducting all municipal, state and federal elections for the Town
Responsibility for administering oaths to elected and appointed officials
Administrator of voter registration and absentee ballots
Conductor of the annual local census
Issuer of dog and kennel licenses
Clerk to the Greenfield City Council
Issuer of raffle permits and business certificates
Plays an integral part between the general public and local government by posting meeting notices.
