City of Greenfield Presented With MIIA Risk Management Award

GREENFIELD – Last month, the City of Greenfield received an FY2020 Risk Management Award from the Massachusetts Interlocal Insurance Association (MIIA), the city’s insurance provider, in recognition of its cross-departmental safety committee who carefully reviewed all workers compensation incidents with a commitment to enforcing the Department of Labor (DLS) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) safety protocols.

The City of Greenfield also participated in MIIA’s Hartford Steam Boiler Sensor Program and OSHA Certification programs furthering their commitment to safety protocols. The Steam Boiler program consists of integrated sensor monitoring technology designed to prevent and mitigate costs related to cold weather-related pipe breaks and water related losses in municipal buildings.

According to Mayor Roxann D. Wedegartner, “I was so pleased to learn the City of Greenfield received the FY2020 Risk Management Award from MIIA. As a municipality, workplace safety across all our city departments is a very high priority; I thank our staff for ensuring the city’s commitment to safety in your workplace.”

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the city initiated weekly COVID-19 updates to its citizens via the city’s website and was recognized for these efforts at the award ceremony.

“We presented the City of Greenfield with a MIIA Risk Management Award for their overall commitment to safety across all municipal departments in their community,” said Stanley Corcoran, Executive Vice President of MIIA. “We also want to acknowledge the city’s successful efforts to keep their citizens informed with weekly updates that were critical, especially at the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

MIIA’s Risk Management team also acknowledged the City of Greenfield’s Police and Fire Departments for being active participants in the MIIA Driver Simulator Training Program and the MIIA Driver Training Simulator Program.
