The Massachusetts Department of Transportation has informed the City that it plans to partially reopen the General Pierce Bridge by the end of the week of January 16. Temporary traffic signals will be reinstalled to allow for one lane of alternating traffic on the span, as crews work to complete the bridge rehabilitation project.
Work that must still be completed includes installation of the pedestrian lighting system, painting and removal of scaffolding.
MassDOT expects to fully reopen the bridge by late March or soon after.
