Mayor Martin announced today that the new John Zon Community Center will be opening in March.
“This beautiful, energy efficient building will serve our community well for decades and the project management company, P-Three, finished this building early and under budget,” said Martin. “This new home for the Council on Aging will allow them to serve a wider range of citizens with more programming.”
The public is invited to tour the building located at 35 Pleasant Street on Saturday, March 3rd, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Members of the building team and Council on Aging staff will be on hand to answer questions about the new space.
Town Councilors are invited to preview the space on Friday, March 2nd from 4 to 6.
The Council on Aging will be moving into the space on Monday, March 5th and COA programming will begin on Wednesday, March 7, 2018.
“With this new building, Greenfield is now well positioned to meet the growing needs of the senior population and we should be proud of this,” said Hope Macary, director of Council on Aging.
The interior of the building will be complete for the opening; however, the outside landscaping will be finished in the spring. “We are so fortunate to have a group of community members and residents volunteer to do part of the landscaping as a labor of love” said Macary. “Their plan is to include native plants and pollinators. I’ve been pleased to see the ways the community has stepped up to put the heart in the community center.”
A grand opening will be scheduled for the Spring.
