Greenfield’s Department of Public Works will be performing upgrades to Main Street this summer, beginning on July 15. DPW crews will be replacing the brick work along the sidewalks with a “brick look” stamped concrete and replacing six outdated fire hydrants with current models.
The replacement of the bricks will reduce maintenance, reduce the City’s liability, and improve ADA compliance. The fire hydrants being replaced are 60-70 years old and replacement parts are no longer available.
The work will take two to three months. Access to Main Street businesses will remain throughout the summer; some parking interruptions may occur in the work zones.
