GREENFIELD, MA – Green River Park, located off of Petty Plain Road, will be closed beginning Tuesday, April 26th for construction until further notice. The park will undergo major renovations including a new basketball court, pickle ball court, playground, pavilion, dog park, parking area, and ADA improvements. The Town of Greenfield awarded the contract to Mountain View Landscapes and Lawncare, Inc. of Chicopee, Mass.  


Greenfield received a $400,000 PARC grant from the State for the renovation of Green River Park. Additional funding was granted from The Stanton Foundation in the amount of $177,872.00 for the creation of the Dog Park. The Stanton Foundation is a private foundation created by Frank Stanton, longtime President of CBS. It has as one of its missions, promoting the welfare of dogs and encouraging the dog-human bond. The Town also contributed $50,000 for the project.


“We are thrilled to break ground on this project. The renovations will be a great asset to our community and our four legged friends!”says Christy Moore, Recreation Director.


The park will be closed for the duration of the project. A grand opening will be held to celebrate the completion of the park. Any questions, contact the Recreation Department at (413)772-1553.
