GIS stands for Geographic Information Systems. GIS is used to store geographic information in a database. This information can then be analyzed and displayed as a map. The Greenfield Department of Planning and Development uses GIS to identify natural resources, and search for collective information on properties (i.e. distance from highway, distance from resource areas, and zoning information).
For more information about GIS mapping, contact the Department of Planning and Development, (413) 772-1549.
